If you have been afraid of lace knitting, fear not - we got you!

Lace has a special appeal, a certain charm that just compels us to become “that” kind of knitter. A lace knitter. It’s easy to be intimidated. From leaf and flowers, to nupps and motifs, to giant charts and all-over patterns, there’s a distinct sense of complexity that makes us hesitate. We imagine that learning to knit lace is a hard thing.

In reality, the only skill necessary to become a lace knitter is concentration. That, and perhaps a willingness to give the old lace chart a solid try. Everything else is already in your repertoire! Knits, purls, increases, and decreases.  That is what makes this class great for adventurous beginners to advanced knitters.

We will tackle the Dandelion Lace Scarf, which is beautiful in any pastel color.  We do recommend at a minimum of a solid color yarn to help the pattern stand out.  The first class meeting will get us started.  Then we have a two week break - this give you time to work on your scarf, and drop in the store should you need any help.  During our final meeting we will see where you are, and give some tips and tricks to blocking your finished object to help the yarn bloom, and open up the stitches to really make the scarf pop!

 Cost of the class includes:

  • Pattern (let us know if you would like us to add this to your Ravelry Profile, or email you a copy).
  • 1 skein of fingering weight yarn available in the shop.  We worked with Monk & Moose Fiber Co. to dye a special Dandy Lion colorway which we highly recommend, or we can help you choose something else entirely.

Materials needed for this class include:

Recommended skills needed before attempting this class:

  • Knowing how to cast on, knit and purl stitches, and bind-off.

First class is February 21, with the follow-up class on March 6.

Classes are non-refundable, so please check your calendar to make sure you can make each meeting.  If something comes up, you can check with us about a reschedule, but it is at our convenience and discretion, and the make-up class must be taken within 90 days, and contingent on the class being offered again in the future.
