Ever wonder why your sweater or other knitted garment doesn’t fit quite like the sample, or why one project turns out beautifully while another feels slightly “off”? In our Swatch Detective class, we’ll unravel the mysteries behind gauge swatching and help knitters understand one of the most important — and most overlooked — skills in knitting. Participants will learn how to create accurate swatches, properly measure gauge, evaluate fabric drape, and identify how yarn, needle size, and personal tension all work together to affect a finished project.
This class is designed to take the intimidation out of swatching and turn it into a valuable tool for knitting success. We’ll explore how to troubleshoot common gauge problems, when and how to adjust needle sizes, and how to “read” a swatch to predict how a garment or accessory will behave after blocking and wear. Whether you’re knitting sweaters, shawls, or accessories, Swatch Detective will give you the confidence to make informed decisions before casting on — saving time, frustration, and yarn along the way.
This class meets Wednesday, June 10 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Classes are non-refundable, so please check your calendar to make sure you can make each meeting. If something comes up, you can check with us about a reschedule, but it is at our convenience and discretion, and the make-up class must be taken within 90 days, and contingent on the class being offered again in the future.
